Hello!

We are Rex and Carol and we are very excited you have chosen to read our letter! We imagine you are struggling to make one of the hardest decisions of your life and we appreciate you taking the time to learn about us to see if we are the perfect family to give to your unborn child.

Our family is built on love, prayer, and the miracle of adoption.  The strength of our twenty-year marriage is based on our ability to show each other support and understanding through life’s disappointments, as well as it’s triumphs. Although we have been blessed in many ways, we have struggled with infertility for many years and are unable to conceive a biological child. Our belief that a child can be equally loved and nurtured no matter how he or she comes into our family led us to pursue adoption. We have been very blessed to find three wonderful birthmothers. The first gave birth to our son, Rex Jr., in 1998, the second gave us our daughter, Carly, in 2002, and the third gave birth to our son, Jacob, in 2003.  Each of these women are very special and courageous and have a special place in our hearts forever.  We now pray that you and your baby will be yet another miracle to happen to our family. We look forward to building a relationship with you at whatever level you feel comfortable.

About Rex ...

Rex is a loveable teddy-bear of a man who lives up to his last name by entertaining family and friends with an endless array of jokes and stories. He was raised in a close-knit Christian family where he is the youngest of three children. He has been interested in aviation since he was a boy and began flying shortly after high school.  After getting his private pilots' license, he continued to fly and is now licensed as a commercial pilot and flight instructor.  He attended technical college and obtained his A&P license to work as an aircraft mechanic. He earned a B.S. degree in Professional Aeronautics and an MBA.  He has worked in the aviation industry for many years and is currently a QA Technical Specialist for a major airline. Although aviation is his first passion, he also loves riding his Harley, fishing, playing guitar, and of course, spending time with his kids.  Rex is a terrific dad.  He is very loving and believes in spending as much time as possible playing with and teaching his kids.  He also never misses an opportunity to grab a hug or kiss from one of them.

About Carol ...

Carol is an outgoing, friendly person whose face lights up with animation when she talks.  She too, was raised in a Christian family, the oldest of two.  She ran track, swam, and was on the cheerleading squad in jr. high school.  Her love of physical activity and exercise led her to become a fitness  instructor.  She is certified as both an aerobics instructor and personal trainer.  She specializes in teaching step aerobics, but has taught everything from kickboxing to a class for children called "mousercise".  She earned a degree in Computer Information Systems and currently works from home as a computer programmer and business applications analyst.  Although she is a working mom, she manages to balance her responsibilities as such very successfully.  Family traditions and quality family time are very important to her.  She plans family activities weekly and manages to carry them off in great detail.

 About Rexy ...

Rexy is a funny, energetic six year old.  Although he was adopted at birth, we see characteristics from both of our personalities in him.  He is animated and caring like mommy and intelligent and funny like daddy.  He loves music and one of his favorite things to do is  turn on his radio and sing and dance for us.  He has a great imagination and has already got a knack for telling funny stories like his daddy.  He loves people, especially other kids, and insists on giving everyone a hug.  He plays well with other children and tries to comfort anyone who is crying or gets hurt.  He shares daddy's love of airplanes, helicopters and motorcycles, and likes reading books and watching movies with mommy.  He is the best big brother a kid could ask for and always helps out and entertains his siblings.

About Carly ...

Carly is a very happy and active little girl.  She has a beautiful smile that she flashes for everyone she meets.  She can steal your heart away in an instant.  She is also a big flirt.  She smiles and bats her eyes coyly if she wants something...and she usually gets it.  She is rough and rugged and loves to climb, explore, and get into things.  She also has a softer more girly side too.  She loves her dolls, stuffed animals, and getting dressed up.  She also loves music and bedtime stories.  Her favorite person and absolute best friend is her big brother, Rexy.  She adores him.

About Jake ...

Jake is a very cheerful and happy little boy.  He wakes up every morning smiling.  He is very active and loves to climb. The only problem is once he climbs up, he can't get down.  He also loves to make noise.  He will take whatever is in his hand and pound with it.  He is our lap baby.  He loves to sit in your lap and just be held.  He doesn't mind getting into trouble and rarely takes no for an answer.  Some of his favorite activities include re-programming the TV remote controls, shredding Kleenex, and leaving the refrigerator door wide open while he makes off with the spicy brown mustard.  Instead of following in the footsteps of his older brother, Jake is more interested in following the lead of our more experienced trouble maker, Carly.

More About Us ...

We have a great family life and enjoy spending as much time as possible together. Our daily routine includes everyone together for dinner where there's always a nightly dinner show.  This show usually includes, but is not limited to, seeing how many items from each meal will end up on the wall (starring Carly), how many items from dinner will end up on the floor, (starring Carly & Jake), how to use food products for face painting and hair styling (starring Jake) and last but certainly not least, how many times one child can get up and leave the table during a single meal (starring Rex Jr)  We also have nightly playtime usually with all five of us in the floor  Some of our favorite places for a weekly family outing are the local zoo (we have a yearly membership), a nearby park, or downtown to the river.  We also take trips to our vacation home, just four miles from Walt Disney World, a couple of times a year.

Our families are very dear to us.  We spend birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions together enjoying lots of food, laughter, and fun.  We also enjoy yearly reunions with distant relatives that include traditions like our annual golf challenge and group photos for the family scrapbook.

Our families are very supportive in our efforts toward adoption and will welcome a new baby with open arms and hearts.  They help us pray for a new addition to our family soon.

Our Home ...

Our home is a two-story contemporary home located in a lovely residential area in southwest Tennessee. We have schools at each end of our street, so on Friday nights the sounds of the weekly football game is only four blocks away. Saturday mornings you are likely to find us, along with our neighbors, sitting on the lawn enjoying one of several soccer games. Every fourth of July there is a neighborhood parade where all the children line up to participate on their bikes, big wheels, or roller blades. Rex, riding his Harley-Davidson complete with flashing lights and flags, usually leads the way.  We also participate in other annual neighborhood events such as the Christmas parade and the October Fest celebration.
